The First Recording By Big Jack Johnson & Kim Wilson ...

M.C. Records is proud to release
The Memphis Barbecue Sessions (MC-0045) by Delta Mississippi blues sensation Big Jack John son with 2002 Grammy Nominee Fabulous Thunderbirds lead vocalist & harmonica player Kim Wilson.
Grammy and W.C. Handy nominated blues pianist Pinetop Perkins guests on two cuts. Down in Memphis in October 2000, two legends of the blues got together to make some music, eat
some barbecue and have a good time. The result is The Memphis Barbecue Sessions. This mostly acoustic release features Big Jack Johnson on acoustic and electric guitars as well as
mandolin. Kim Wilson is on every cut and is playing the kind of harmonica that made Muddy Waters say "Kim's the best harp player since Little Walter." Kim Wilson shares a vocal
and plays lead guitar with Big Jack on the song "Going Out Walking." The Memphis Barbecue Sessions, the fourth release from Big Jack Johnson on M.C. Records, features Jackąs great
blues song-writing as well as some of his favorite songs from Howliną Wolf, Jimmy Reed and Elmore James. Most songs were done in one or two takes and there are no overdubs. Big
Jack Johnson has lived and played in the Mississippi Delta all his life and brings that experience to this intimate and powerful CD.
Since signing with M.C. Records in 1996 Big Jack Johnson has been nominated for nine W.C. Handy Awards (including one for
Blues Guitarist of the Year for 2000), four Living Blues nominations, two AFIM Blues Record of the Year Awards. All The Way Back (MC-0035) by Big Jack Johnson & The Oilers won the Crossroads Magazine Award for Best Blues Record of
1999. This new album is sure to cement further Big Jack's status as the reigning native son of the Delta blues , a position that has earned him recent appearances on CNN's Worldbeat,
on PBSą River of Song, and in National Geographic, and which explains why each of his last three releases with M.C. Records spent four months on the Living Blues Radio Chart.
"he's a bonafide Mississippi bluesman whose voice is as gripping as his guitar lines" Jon Pareles, N.Y. Times
