"His best recording  to date!" - Blues Access

All The Way Back (MC-0035)  is Big Jack Johnson and the Oilers' first recording of  new material since 1996's We To Stop This Killin'. Building  on the success of that prior release, Big Jack and his  roadband go full tilt on All The Way Back to assert Big Jack's rightful place as the master of  contemporary Delta blues. There's no question about the  lineage behind Big Jack's power-packed guitar playing and  songwriting. It is the legendary rhythms and intensity of  the birthplace of blues during the early century brought  to a new modern place. On All The Way Back that place explodes with 10 all-original compositions  that careen from heavy-duty shuffles to gritty danceable  funk to mean-spirited electric hollers straight from the  gut of the Delta. A new dimension is given by the  addition of Little Anthony Geraci of Ronnie Earl and The  Broadcasters playing acoustic piano and organ. Add to  this Big Jack's continuing mission of hitting modern  social issues head on in such songs as Crack Headed  Women and I Wanna Know and you have over 50  minutes of pure contemporary Delta blues. All The  Way Back was recorded in 1997.

Since Big Jack Johnson  signed exclusively with M.C. Records in 1996, he has been  recognized as one of the world's premier blues artists.  In 1996 We Got To Stop This Killin' appeared on  Living Blues' Radio Chart for four straight months. In  1997 Big Jack racked up an impressive array of award  nominations: two W.C. Handy nominations (Song of the Year  for We Got To Stop This Killin' & Best Male  Contemporary Artist); three Living Blues nominations (he  won for Song of the Year); and a NAIRD nomination for  Blues Record of the Year. The accolades continue this  year with Big Jack's W.C. Handy Award nomination for Best  Blues Guitarist. Over the past 18 months Big Jack has  appeared on the covers of Real Blues, Blues Speak  & Living Blues. Big Jack Johnson & The Oilers  have performed over 300 shows a year worldwide, a  testament to the band's fiery intensity and his  crowd-pleasing live shows.

Big Jack Johnson is a  native of Lambert, Mississippi and now resides in  Clarksdale. He has been playing the blues for over 40  years, first gaining notoriety with the band The Jelly  Roll Kings. Big Jack's musicianship has been so renown,  he has performed by invitation with Sonny Boy Williamson,  Jimmy Reed, Robert Nighthawk and Carl Perkins, to name a  few. He first recorded at the famous Sun Studios in  Memphis in 1964.
