Cleveland Fats has worked as a guitarist for nearly two decades in Robert Jr. Lockwood's band. The effects of working with his mentor have clearly rubbed off. This is an understated recording that successfully creates the ambiance of the 50's Chicago blues scene. Growing up near to two rural Cleveland ghettos, Fats learned firsthand the power and simplicity of traditional blues. He has ably paid tribute to them here in this unpretentious revue.
