Northport NY – M.C. Records is proud to announce that it has signed the youngest
Neville brother, Cyril Neville to a record deal. "Brand New Blues" (MC-0064) marks his first release in eight years and hits stores April 7 in the United States and Canada.
Dixiefrog Records will handle the release in Europe with a May 7 street date.
"Brand New Blues" contains mostly original
material written or co-written by Cyril with the perspective of an outspoken Human Rights advocate. The new release is musical gumbo of a lifetime of musical influences & passions;
blues, funk and soul. Brian J of Pimps of Joytime took care of the production chores and played most of the instruments. Family and friends gathered to help Cyril achieve his vision of "Brand New Blues"
including Art Neville (Organ & Vocals) Ivan Neville (Organ), Ian Neville (Guitar), Tab Benoit (Guitar), Waylon Thibodeaux (Washboard) and
Jumpin' Johnny Sansone on harmonica The sessions were recorded in Brooklyn NY, Austin TX, Houma LA & New Orleans LA.
Cyril began singing professionally at 19 in 1967 and released his first
single in 1970. He was the vocalist and played congas with the influential and successful band The Meters and contributed to two releases and a tour with the Rolling Stones. In addition to his work with
the Neville Brothers, Cyril has formed other bands over the years, including the Endangered Species Band in 1983 and the Uptown All-stars Band, while he also found time to launch his own record label,
Endangered Species. Cyril also founded the New Orleans Musicians Organized (NOMO), which helps musicians who need business advice with their careers. Cyril Neville has issued several solo albums on his
own over the years, including 1995's "The Fire This Time", and a pair in 2000, "New Orleans Cookin'" and "Soulo." Plus he has guested on
